Tacoma Screw Flag

If you’ve ever been anywhere near Hwy16 and I-5 in Tacoma Washington, chances are you’ve seen this massive flag blowing in the wind and waving around. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably wondered what is that HUGE FLAG doing there, who owns it and why is it so big? And exactly how big is it? Well, I decided to investigate.

This flag was commissioned to help celebrate Tacoma Screw Products being a part of the Tacoma Community since 1946 and as part of that celebration, the flag was dedicated to all of the United States service members, which is something we can all get behind.

But I’m still trying to wrap my head around just how large this flag and flag pole are so let’s break down the numbers.

First, the flag pole stands at a commanding 180 ft tall but just how tall is that?

CAITLIN CLARK OF THE INDIANA FEVER(WNBA) STANDS 6ft TALL SO THIS FLAG IS
30 CAITLIN CLARKS TALL!

IF YOU LAID THE POLE DOWN ON A FOOTBALL FIELD, IT WOULD SPAN 60yds!

IT’S ONLY 9ft SHORTER THAN THE CINDERELLA CASTLE AT DISNEYWORLD

IT’S 20ft TALLER THAN THE ARC de TRIOMPHE

That’s great and all, but for the Reddit Community we need bananas for scale. A quick visit to [converttobananas.com] shows us that it’s over 380 bananas tall! Okay but what about the actual flag?

Actual dimensions of the flag portion are 40ft by 80ft, but since I’m a real estate agent I think in terms of square footage. That gives this Tacoma flag a size of 3,200 sqft!

Now you can sleep soundly knowing exactly what this flag is, why it’s there and of course it’s purpose in giving thanks to all the American service members who have served in the armed forces past, present, and future!
